Children/Teens Movement Program

Move-Kids is a fun, movement based program for children, aged 4-12 years, who have challenges participating in physical activity and sport or would like to improve their skills and fitness for community / school based sport. The program aims to improve children’s movement skills and self-confidence to ensure every child has the opportunity to enjoy and participate in physical activity, exercise and sport. Children have an initial assessment of their fundamental movement skills, fitness and strength and then a tailored movement program is developed to match their needs.

Move-Girls is a free multi-component program for girls, aged 8-12 years, who want to improve their movement and sports skills, fitness and self-confidence. The program is made up of fundamental movement skills (e.g. catching, throwing running, kicking), sport specific skills (e.g. AFL handball, basketball set shot), high intensity interval training on stationary bikes and strength activities. The program aims to increase motor competency, fitness, physical activity levels, sports participation and self-confidence in a fun and safe environment. Participants will be involved in a research project where pre and post assessment will occur.

Move-Teens is a fun, fitness and movement based program for teenagers who have low fitness, strength and motor skills. Teenagers, aged 12-17 years have an initial assessment and are then provided with an individualised program to match their needs. The program is made up of sport-specific skills, strength and fitness activities.

The programs run during each school term for a period of 6 weeks on Tuesdays from 4.00 - 5.00 pm at the ECU Children's Physical Activity Hub, Building 22 ECU Sports Centre.
