Muscle Mass in Mesothelioma

The overall aim of this research is to examine the relationship between skeletal muscle and important clinical outcomes in patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM). We will retrospectively measure muscle mass and muscle radiodensity from stored chest computed tomography (CT) scan images using a specialised software program. In part one of this project, the purpose is to examine the level of muscle mass and muscle radiodensity associated with poorer overall survival (OS) in MPM. Second, we will also examine the relationship between muscle mass, muscle radiodensity and other clinical outcomes such as chemotherapy toxicity and hospital admission
