Exercise Medicine for Pancreatic Cancer Study
A pilot randomised controlled trial (RCT) to examine the feasibility and efficacy of a supervised, multicomponent exercise programme in patients with non-metastatic pancreatic cancer undergoing pre-operative therapy.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Newly diagnosed localised pancreatic cancer.
- Waiting to start or within 8 weeks after starting prescribed induction chemotherapy, and
- Approved by their treating oncologist.
Exclusion Criteria:
- Having undergone treatments for another primary cancer within the last 12 months, or another ongoing active primary malignancy,
- Anticipating to undergo major surgery for non-cancer diseases within the next 6 months
- Any musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, or neurological disorder that could put patients at risk during exercise testing or training, or
- Having participated in planned, individualised, and supervised exercise training for ≥2 days/week in the previous month.
