Facilities

Infrastructure

The Survey Research Centre is equipped with the following state-of-the-art facilities:

  • a computer assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) facility, with multi-modal (e.g., telephone and online) data collection software that enables an innovative, cost effective and flexible means of capturing and processing survey data;
  • an automated telephone dialer system for accuracy and increased efficiency;
  • a bulk SMS messaging system;
  • face-to-face central location interviewing using wireless mobile devices.

Data security

The Survey Research Centre operates within Edith Cowan University’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) environment. The University has significant physical and electronic security to ensure the security and confidentiality of all data collected and stored by the Survey Research Centre. Edith Cowan University is audited by the Office of Auditor General to ensure its information security controls are appropriate.

All Survey Research Centre staff are required to sign a confidentiality agreement regarding the use of name-identified data. The Centre works under the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research.
